Sweetheart necklines and princess ball gowns not quite the stuff of your wedding fashion dreams? Ladies, we hear you and so does Emily from Paper Tiger Press who, in this second installment of unique and beautiful wedding dresses, takes a look at some elegantly sexy alternatives.

Show some skin
I'm going to preface this segment with the following advice: "keep it classy". There's nothing wrong with wanting to feel like a total goddess on your wedding day, but you also don't want to give your future in-laws cause for concern. The easiest way to walk the line on this one is to draw the focus to one area. For example, a low back on an otherwise conservative gown is going to be a show-stopper. Conversely, a backless dress with a plunging neckline, crotch-high slits *and* cutouts is probably going to induce a fair bit of pearl clutching in most crowds.

1. Lace
Lace is the oldest trick in the book when it comes to balancing sexy with ceremony-appropriate. It's is so strongly associated with wedding gowns that it kind of gets a free pass no matter how you decide to wear it: layered it over semi-opaque materials for a more conservative look, over nude lining, or right against your skin.

2. Low Backs
Gowns with low backs or backless gowns are a great way to reveal a little skin whilst still being appropriately demure. Backless gowns are best paired with a plainer front to really draw attention to that one area for heightened visual impact.

3. Figure-Hugging
Figure-hugging gowns are sexy options for brides too. Dying to show some real skin? A form-fitting dress with a keyhole or low back is a great way to do it.

4. Illusion Panels
When it comes to sexy, illusion panels are a great choice. Even when they aren't obscuring anything you wouldn't show (like a sheer, high neckline for what would normally be a strapless dress) they always give you the illusion you're seeing something you shouldn't. Like lace, illusion panels can range from demure to downright sultry depending on how they're worn.

5. Slits
If you've got great legs, look for a gown with a slit. Not only is there nothing more sultry than a flash of leg when you least expect it, but you won't have to worry about your movements being restricted at any point in the day. The beauty of slit dresses is that they tend to have amazing flow, sweeping around you as you walk or dance and creating some pretty fabulous photo ops.
