Beautiful Traditions: A Styled Shoot at Emily Hill

01p

Inspired by a recent trip to rural China and his own heritage, Bryan of Beautiful Gatherings teamed up with The Wedding Scoop and Floral Magic to create a styled shoot that pays homage to Chinese culture. Shot by Brody Tan at Emily Hill, the model bride donned a stunning Qun Kua (or traditional Chinese dress) from House of Etiquette. Beautiful stationery by Pearlyn and Paper complemented the elegant styling, while hair and makeup by Charmaine Tok, a statuesque Love, Yu halter gown from The Prelude Bridal and a bejewelled Jennifer Behr headpiece from The Beauty Candy Apothecary added just a touch of modern glamour.

A word from Bryan of Beautiful Gatherings...
“After traveling around rural China for a month, I found myself in awe of many things – from intricate fabric patterns to natural wonders. I want to express this beauty and showcase the culture of my roots, so using a Qun Kua (??) as the point of inspiration, I started a mood board. The vision was to create something simple, elegant and timeless. (Fun fact: I learned that it takes almost a year to make a Qun Kua or traditional Chinese dress.)

I learned a great deal from Carol from House of Etiquette about the history and workmanship that goes into the making of Qun Kua. Lucy from Floral Magic was able to create orange floral suites that added a pop of colour and provided a nice contrast to the white and blue porcelain vases. The location, Emily Hill, combined with the gorgeous natural light as well as Brody behind his film camera, made this all possible.”

{We'd just like to say a huge "Thank you!" to all the wedding vendors who collaborated in this shoot! It's a pleasure to be able to share your wonderful creativity with our community!}
