Against All Odds: Shawn and Marilyn's Love Story and Wedding Which Fills Us with Hope

In the midst of everyday tragedy, a love story like Shawn and Marilyn’s reminds us to dare to hope.

Shawn’s rare brain cancer diagnosis led the then-newly dating couple closer to each other as Marilyn stood by him while he underwent treatment and eventually made a full recovery. When Shawn suffered a relapse a few years later, the sports car enthusiast was inspired to start a supercar rental company with his wife-to-be as he fought to defeat the illness a second time. 8 years later, the pair made their lifelong promises to each other. In a wedding planned by The Wedding Entourage and documented by Trouvé, Shawn and Marilyn’s family and friends bore witness to their inspiring journey of strength and unconditional love. In the words of the groom, “…once you choose hope, anything is possible”.

Boucheron's Quatre Collection: An Introduction to an Icon of Jewellery

Boucheron will be hosting a special exhibition featuring its iconic and extensive Quatre collection, which will include many wedding and engagement pieces, as well as specially-curated High Jewellery from Boucheron’s own museum collection in Paris. Visitors will also receive an exclusive Boucheron wedding gift set comprising a ring pillow and special Boucheron red packets (ang baos) for the bridal party when they purchase a pair of wedding bands during the exhibition. The exhibition will run from 22 July – 31 July 2016 at the Atrium of Takashimaya, Ngee Ann City.

In the lead-up to this exciting event, we had the privilege of speaking with famed Parisian jewellery house Boucheron about its iconic Quatre collection of rings. The Quatre collection, which includes on-trend stackable and matching wedding bands and engagement solitaires (perfect for marking marriage milestones or anniversaries), is best known for its beautiful mix of textures and colors, and technically challenging fusion of metals, making each ring a unique reflection of its owner. The wide variety of Quatre rings provides endless combinations that will take you from engagement to wedding to everyday wear with ease.

Boucheron's Quatre Collection: An Introduction to an Icon of Jewellery

The Quatre collection

The Quatre collection has grown to become one of Boucheron’s most beloved and popular collections since its launch in 2004. The Quatre collection combines four bands in white, yellow, rose and Boucheron “chocolate” gold, with four design motifs that are signatures of Boucheron – gadroons, a line of diamonds, the “Clous de Paris” and grosgrain.

The combination of colours and design motifs creates a beautiful aesthetic and tactile experience, and the goldsmithing techniques developed by Boucheron to create the motifs and join the bands without welding are an example of Boucheron’s deep technical mastery refined to an art form.

We could go on about the Quatre collection, but like all icons, it’s hard to do it justice. The best way to experience it is to join us at Boucheron’s special exhibition and view the collection for yourself.

The Wedding Scoop’s Wedding Notebook for Brides and Grooms

Our mission of empowering couples underlies everything that we do here at The Wedding Scoop. But providing information and inspiration alone isn’t enough – among the many things we think about at The Wedding Scoop is how you, our community of Wedding Scoopers, keep track of all your wedding information and inspiration.

As fans of the timeless tradition of note-keeping, we turned our eye to wedding notebooks to see if we could do an article on which ones we thought were really helpful. What we found was that every notebook we came across either contained too little information to be useful in a wedding context, or provided far too much information, overwhelming us with forms and documents to fill out. From an aesthetic point of view, many wedding notebooks simply weren’t very pretty.

We ditched the article idea, but began to wonder if we could design a wedding notebook from scratch – one that would live up to our own high expectations. After lots of brainstorming, we decided to make it happen. We took the same uncompromising standards and meticulous attention to detail that have helped build The Wedding Scoop, and applied it to the creation of our wedding notebook.

After months of detailed drafting, tireless development, countless iterations and prototypes which drove our suppliers crazy, and close collaboration with bespoke stationer, Paper Tiger Press, we're proud to be sharing our first product, The Wedding Scoop's Wedding Notebook for Brides & Grooms, with you. We created this notebook to be by your side throughout your wedding planning process.

Nazrul and Ameera's Desert Prewedding Among Western Australia's Ancient Rock Spires

How sweet is it when fortune bridges time and distance? Nazrul and Ameera were primary school classmates, and Ameera had migrated to Australia when Facebook led them to reconnect years later and, bonding over food, they fell in love. The sun, sand and boundless skies of their adopted home formed a winning backdrop for the couple, who wanted to showcase Western Australia’s expansive outdoors in this photoshoot snapped by Khairul of fokus.fk. We were especially thrilled to see that Nazrul and Ameera chose the weathered spires of The Pinnacles in Nambung National Park as one of their backdrops - this unique landscape began to form millions of years ago. What a fitting venue for a photoshoot with the love of a lifetime!
