Bursting with beautiful detail in a kaleidoscope of soft pastels and patterns, Johann and Emily’s nuptials, planned by The Theme Wedding and captured on film by Jada Poon Photography, is a sight to behold. With touches such as handkerchieves prepared by the bride herself including one with a special message for the man who turned her into “someone who has the courage to love”, bespoke Cinderella slippers by Jimmy Choo and an Elsa-eque periwinkle dress by Noel Chu Atelier, aren't you glad we saved you a front row seat at their wedding?
Watch this short film of the couple’s first dance captured by AP Studio:
What was the proposal like?
“After 6 months of dating, Johann proposed to me at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong. I said ‘yes’ to him without a second thought. Johann has given me so much love and support, he turned me from an insecure person into someone who has the courage to love.” ~ Emily
Please tell us more about your wedding!
“Born and raised in Hong Kong, I knew I would love to celebrate my special day in my hometown with my beloved family and friends. I was lucky to have the help of The Theme Wedding as our wedding planner throughout the whole planning process; Vicky and Issac were very helpful in every aspect. I remember I had a breakdown towards the last few months before the wedding; Vicky spent nights talking to and comforting me. I am very happy that we created my dream wedding together. She is more than a planner; she’s a friend.” ~ Emily
“My wedding theme was ‘Kaleidoscope – Our Beautiful Future’. I spent a lot of time with my planner working on the wedding details, such as the lovely invitation and menu designed by Emma Tong. There were a lot of geometric patterns in my wedding which subtly portrayed my wedding theme. I wanted a unique wedding full of sweetness and romance. Even though there were many restrictions due to the fact that I was having my wedding at an indoor venue, my event designer managed to design a lovely backdrop together with some rustic furniture to display my wedding cake and desserts. I am truly happy with how we turned the ballroom into something that I had envisioned.
There are many other wedding details that I adore such as the handkerchieves that I had prepared with meaningful messages for my husband, parents and in-laws. Our wedding day was a great success; everything went as planned and we certainly enjoyed the day to the fullest.” ~ Emily
“I am truly a fashion-holic, and I had very high expectations of my dresses. I am so lucky to have had Noel Chu Atelier bring my visions to life and create three beautiful dresses for my wedding: my wedding dress, a red qipao and a periwinkle evening dress. We went through rounds of alterations in terms of the design of my evening dress but it was all worth the effort. I remember how amazed my friends were when they saw me in that dress, and how my friends’ kids were so happy to see me and kept calling me ‘Elsa’.
I really loved my Jenny Packham ‘Eden’ dress; I loved its subtle bling and how the silk fabric lay softly against my body. I received lots of compliments on the dress, especially during my first dance.” ~ Emily
“I am very much spoiled by my husband. He bought me the ‘Cinderella’ shoes from Jimmy Choo despite its very expensive price tag. I’m so grateful that he always wants to give me the best he can afford.” ~ Emily
“Johann and I are both beginners in ballroom dancing. We took 6 classes to learn our first dance before our wedding and it was such an amazing experience for both of us. The first dance was definitely the best part of the entire wedding! Our cinematographer was also amazing in capturing both our dance rehearsal and the actual dance. Watching the video takes us back to those moments of our day.” ~ Emily
Congratulations on your marriage, Johann and Emily! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
