A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Sean and Dawn’s Wedding

 1p

It was a woodland-inspired dream at Nosh, Rochester Park, as Sean and Dawn celebrated their nuptials in a whimsical setting filled with flowers. With the help of their wedding planner, Jessica of Wedrock Weddings, this bashful pair dressed the night with stars and created an enchanting evening for their guests, as captured by Bloc Memoire Photography.

What was the theme of your wedding?
“We wanted a dreamy and airy feel—rustic, with pastel colours.” ~ Dawn

How did you decorate your venue?
“Together with our wedding planner Jessica, we collected glass bottles for the flowers on every table. Jessica had some of the bottles spray-painted gold. She did our photo booth, stationery, props, table numbers and many other elements! Honestly, we just left it to Jessica to liaise with the décor and flower vendors and work her magic.” ~ Dawn

Were there any unique or personal touches you’d like to mention?
“We wanted an intimate and fuss-free wedding, but also one that was unique to our guests and ourselves. The venue definitely played a part; we knew from the start that we didn’t want to hold our reception at a hotel, and we are fortunate to have parents that are open and supportive enough to let us figure it all out on our own. We kept the traditional tea ceremony but did away with the gatecrashing as we did not have any bridesmaids or groomsmen.” ~ Dawn

What sort of wedding favours did you opt for and why?
“We didn’t want to hand out favours for the sake of doing so, so we went for something practical. We wanted something different and thoughtful and we wanted our guests to feel as comfortable as possible since our venue was outdoors so we opted for mosquito patches!” ~ Dawn

Do you have any wedding planning tips or advice for other brides and grooms-to-be?
“We had an excellent wedding planner. Our advice is to get one that is organized and responsible. Jessica was firm about certain things and at the same time a sweetheart for constantly reminding me not to worry as she had it all under control. She basically made my dream wedding come true! Don’t stinge on photographers and videographers—at the end of the day, these captured memories are the ones that remain with you forever; you’re going to look back and relive them like they just happened the day before.

Fresh flowers are expensive, but they beautify the venue! We saved on things that we thought weren’t worth spending a huge sum on, such as if we thought they’d only be noticed for a night. I spent months looking for my wedding shoes that fit our budget and my shoe size, and got a pair off eBay for less than 100 USD including shipping, which arrived a week before the wedding date. Sean’s suit was also off eBay. We are both practical people, we would rather get things that we will use in the future.” ~ Dawn

What do you think makes a strong marriage?
“Understanding towards each other, and definitely trust.” ~ Dawn

Congratulations on your marriage, Sean and Dawn! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
