01p

Brimming with white, blush and gold rustic vintage details like lace embroidery hoops, fluffy cotton bolls and reams of ribbon styled by Hitched Weddings and Parties, the garden of Suburbia blossomed into a charming venue for Issac and Charlotte’s wedding. Watch this short film of the couple's wedding day captured by Twenty8picks...

How did you meet?
“Our friendship started at the end of 2006 during year 1 of university back in Kuala Lumpur.” ~ Charlotte

What was the proposal like?
“We'd been together for 7 years and decided to go for our first long-haul flight to London for my birthday and also to visit our friends. It all happened at Roux at The Landau in London. I didn't notice a thing until he took the flowers out from his bag (don’t worry they are artificial ones therefore they’re still looking good now) with the ring. He tried to push the table away and the next second he was on one knee. At the same time, I was so nervous that I tried to pull the table back, making a fool out of myself! He just popped the question and here we are today.” ~ Charlotte

What was your theme and colour palette? What sort of wedding favors did you opt for, and why?
“Our wedding had a rustic theme. I love crafts and DIY but for my wedding it was all well taken care of by my event stylist Michelle from Hitched Weddings and Parties. For wedding favours, I chose heart-shaped sparklers as they're fun; guests could keep them or play with them during our send-off. I love sparkles!” ~ Charlotte

Do you have any tips and wedding advice for other brides and grooms-to-be?
“Prioritise your needs and wants, do up a budget and try to keep track of it. Everyone has their dream wedding and sometimes DIY is meaningful and slightly more pocket-friendly but I would only suggest DIY if you have plenty of time, have a small number of guests, and are able to work under stress in order not to turn yourself into a ‘bridezilla’. However, if you have some extra budget, getting an event stylist is all you need. The consultation fee varies depending on your request, and the stylist/planner will work within your budget!” ~ Charlotte

What do you think makes a strong marriage?
“As we are newlyweds I do not have much advice on what makes a strong marriage. But I have learnt something valuable from my solemniser, which is ‘to be selfless’. We are both learning each day and are trying to be more concerned of our partner’s needs and wishes.” ~ Charlotte

Congratulations on your marriage, Issac and Charlotte! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
