Fong Lik and Victoria had gone through being in a long distance relationship for eleven years before finally saying ‘I Do'. Their heartwarming home ceremony, shot by Memoir Click Studio, had a simple but cheery colour palette of white and yellow, and the rustic decor lent itself to the warmth of the space.
How did he propose?
“He proposed at sunset at Burleigh Heads beach in Gold Coast, Australia. I’m usually the vigilant and attentive one, but this time I was completely in the dark about the proposal, and it really took me by surprise!
Ten years ago, he made a crayon drawing of the two of us holding hands and facing the sunset on the beach. He wrote a Chinese idiom beside the drawing that spoke of holding hands and growing old together. I guess it really did come true!” ~ Victoria
What was the theme of your wedding?
“I love flowers and have always wanted a garden wedding for my Registration of Marriage (ROM) ceremony. I chose a colour palette that consisted of yellow and white because to me, it just screamed happy – which is what every wedding should be! It was such a joyful sight to see everyone dressed according to the colour scheme.
The venue was our lovely weekend house, which turned out to be perfect for the house party we hosted after the ceremony. Our home garden looked so vibrant with all the fresh flowers. We had a dessert table as well for all the sweet tooths, and it made for a fun ‘photo booth’ as well. In the evening, we had a cosy buffet-style dinner that allowed our guests to move around and mingle freely.
Apart from our home garden wedding, we did have a separate traditional ceremony and dinner reception to celebrate our wedding and share our joy with more guests.” ~ Victoria
Any tips or wedding advice for other brides and grooms-to-be?
“Start the wedding planning as early as possible so that you can just relax and focus on looking your best prior to your big day. Online wedding magazines and Pinterest are very good sources of inspiration; I was hooked on them! I think everybody has her own preferences when it comes to the details, so just go with the things you like - it’s your wedding after all!” ~ Victoria
Do you have anything else you’d like to share with us?
“Having been in a long distance relationship for eleven years before finally tying the knot, our wedding was a very special moment for us. It was when we were finally able to claim each other, forever and always. I think that truly knowing someone and being truly loved and accepted for who you are and vice versa is definitely the best gift you can possibly receive in life.” ~ Victoria
