How lucky are we at The Wedding Scoop that our inaugural blog posts for our wedding vendor and real wedding feature the same talented individual? When we heard that Ee-Lyn from Singaporean bridal label Love, Yu was recently married in a ceremony in Phuket, we knew we had to feature not only the gorgeous gowns from her newest collection, but her very own dream wedding as well!
Ee-Lyn met Ben when she began training to do a marathon. Ben had just started a sports laboratory and she was one of his first clients! He tried to propose by asking Ee-Lyn if she would like to go for a walk on the beach but she said she was busy so Ben sat with her at home and told her he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He popped the question with a diamond (in her favourite cut) and told her she could choose her own ring design so he would know she liked it.
“It was a very simple proposal but sweet. I think it reflected his personality which was nice.” ~ Ee-Lyn
Ben and Ee-Lyn wanted a simple, fuss-free and intimate wedding and they were greatly assisted by the service staff at The Surin Phuket who helped them plan their big day. The couple had the same vision for their beachside wedding and wanted to be able to relax and enjoy the day without having to stress about it being picture-perfect. The threat of rain clouds at the start worried them a little at first but the skies cleared and fortuitously, the good weather held until guests were leaving.
The couple were able to sit down and enjoy their dinner, mingle with their 60 guests and spend a wonderful night with their closest family and friends. The night was made all the more special by fireworks, wish lanterns and surprise performances – a Hakka dance by Ben’s friends from New Zealand and touching speeches by 4 of Ee-Lyn’s closest girlfriends.
Their wedding was full of personal touches as well including a photo stand backdrop and Polaroid booth, mini fans and customised ‘Thai spice’ lemongrass lip balm wedding favours. The wedding decorations included 1000 paper cranes lovingly made by Ee-Lyn’s mother for good luck, and strung up by her aunts, who tirelessly worked till 3am the night before.
Congratulations Ben and Ee-Lyn!
