“I love Paris in the spring time” goes the opening line of Sinatra’s timeless song about this eternally-romantic city, and so do we! Timothy and Florence’s pastel-painted pre-wedding shots, by film photographer Le Secret D’Audrey, inspire us to traipse through Paris on our very own spring time strolls. Just look at those magnificent bursts of pink cherry blossoms!
How did you meet and what was the proposal like?
“We met through common friends. The proposal was private, with Timothy secretly arranging a surprise proposal. He took me to dinner one day and had a private room set up with flowers. He then knelt down on one knee to give me the ring.” ~ Florence
What was the inspiration behind your shoot?
“I thought having the romantic Parisian city as our backdrop would be timeless and allow us to reflect on these romantic moments in Paris when we're older.” ~ Florence
Do you have any interesting moments or stories to share from the day of shooting?
“It was really, really cold when we did the shoot. We thought that with Spring flowers blooming everywhere, it would be really warm but no - the temperature fell below 5 degrees at times and I was shivering. Luckily Audrey was with her assistant, who would quickly run and throw warm clothes on me and rub me after shots.
Pre-wedding photoshoots are not as popular in France as in Indonesia, and we did get some congratulatory wishes on the street from strangers, which was pretty sweet. We also had passers-by stop and watch us pose for the camera, which was pretty funny and awkward, but overall it was very fun.” ~ Florence
Do you have any tips and advice for couples planning destination pre-wedding shoots?
“Do your research and try chatting with your photographer. Make sure you are clear on what to expect, have all your questions answered and feel comfortable.
Also with so many designers now offering magnificent gowns, it can be really overwhelming choosing the perfect dress for the photoshoot. Take time to browse through the range of designs they offer. If you are renting, make sure to tag the dress 2 – 3 months in advance to avoid disappointment. Pick a dress that fits you well, one that you feel confident in. After all you’ll be walking around in the dress, sometimes on busy streets, for hours during the photoshoot.
Have some comfortable shoes to change into during the shoot.
Wear your dress with confidence but ultimately, the photographer will be the key to getting wonderful shots. I think great photographers will help you pose effortlessly and be able to capture wonderful moments, just like what Audrey did for us.
And last but not least, just be happy during the shoot; it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.” ~ Florence
Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos with us, Timothy and Florence, and warmest congratulations on your engagement!
