Is there anything more sophisticated that an all-white wedding? Gunawan and Marki chose this timeless shade for their nuptials and exchanged vows in front of a vast wall of snowy blooms by CCLee. Planned in less than 3 months by Angela from The Wedding Stylist and captured by Ivan Tan Photography at Capella Singapore, this lovely couple's celebration is one of pristine perfection!
How did you meet?
“We met during our university days in San Francisco. It was the first day of class, he came in late, sat next to me and the rest is history.” ~ Marki
What was the proposal like?
“Gun proposed to me during our vacation in Bali. He brought me to dinner and when we came back, the pool was full of candles and flowers. Halfway through his proposal, he forgot his speech but it was all good. We laughed it off, he remembered the rest of his speech and I said YES! Our friends came out of hiding and started to congratulate us. It was definitely a sweet surprise planned by my husband.” ~ Marki
What was the theme and colour palette of your wedding?
“I was so indecisive when it came to choosing a theme and colour palette. Angela, our wedding planner, and I were bouncing off some ideas but I eventually chose white as my main colour. I felt like if I chose something trendy or a colour palette that is "current", I might regret my decision 10 years down the road.” ~ Marki
What sort of wedding favours did you opt for, and why?
“I didn't like the idea of a photo booth stationed outside the ballroom. I wanted my guests to stay inside the ballroom and enjoy the night. I didn't want them to wait and queue up outside just to have their picture taken. Angela suggested we hire Cloudstaprint to give our guests the mobility and freedom to print photos they snapped throughout the wedding. It was another great way to document the celebration and relive the wedding through our guests’ perspective.” ~ Marki
Do you have any other special stories to share with us?
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we practically planned the wedding in less than 3 months. Our wedding planner was vital in the whole process as we were not stationed in Singapore most of the time. I trusted her instincts and went with my gut feelings. Planning a wedding in a short period of time wasn't as stressful as I thought. When you have months and months to plan, you doubt your initial choices and drag decision making till the last minute.” ~ Marki
Do you have any tips or wedding advice for other brides and grooms to-be?
“Planning a wedding can be stressful for both parties involved. Just be honest with each other and most importantly, be honest with yourself. Communicate your thoughts and expectations regularly. I've realized that expectations might not always be met but both parties can compromise for a common goal.” ~ Marki
Congratulations on your marriage, Ganawan and Marki! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
