Darren and Jenny’s engagement shoot took the phrase “till death to us part” to another level when they posed in their finest looks with (and in) a gleaming white coffin. After travelling to Japan for an assassin-themed series of pre-wedding photos inspired by the film Mr and Mrs Smith and throwing a Game of Thrones-inspired wedding celebration, the couple decided to keep things simple for their family shoot with one-year-old daughter Skyla.
Captured by Hayden Chan and styled by Flower Story, the indoor shoot at The Love Co. Studio was filled with chic bohemian touches. The happy family opted for a clean, minimalist colour palette of white and pastel pink, with baby Skyla decked out in a striped top and a flouncy tutu skirt.
A word from Jenny:
“Instead of having an elaborate party for baby Skyla's 1st birthday, my husband and I chose to capture precious memories for her by doing a family photoshoot together with a mandatory cake smash. After all, when she grows up, the best kind of gifts for her will be memories that she can cherish.
This was a collaborative shoot with Hayden from The Love Co. Studio and Flower Story. We crafted a whimsical bohemian floral set-up with a gorgeous macrame backdrop, pampas grass, balloons and lots of nature-inspired elements to celebrate Skyla's 1st birthday.
Her birthday cake was a simple cream cake, adorned with her favourite berries and set on a rustic wooden stand for the mandatory 1-year-old cake smash. It was a photoshoot filled with love and warmth, where our family members gathered to celebrate this beautiful day for Skyla's 1st milestone.
Motherhood is really a different and permanent phase of life that requires different perspectives, changing expectations and putting someone's elses needs before ourselves. Being a new mum can sometimes be quite challenging, but seeing my baby girl’s smile lights up my world. It has been an amazing journey with this little one and I can't wait to build more memories with her!”
Thanks for sharing these beautiful images with us, Darren and Jenny!
