Denis surprised Zoe when he got down on one knee and proposed to her during a keepsake photo shoot in Paris.
“There were no roses, no sweet nothings and no promises of the things he would do for me in the future. But that is Denis. Actions speak louder than words and in the past decade he has shown that he is a man I can rely on and trust for the rest of my life.” ~ Zoe
Fast forward to their pink, white and gold garden-themed Singapore wedding shot by Andri Tei, the couple said their “I-Do’s” beneath a floral arch and sea of mood lights at Flower Field Hall at Gardens by the Bay, which was decorated with pedestal aisle flower arrangements, rose vine-lined stairways and flowers in all shades of pink!
And here are some photos from the couple’s proposal shot in Paris:
How did you meet?
“We met about 12 years ago in Temasek Junior College - first during a meeting for the now-defunct Tourism Club. We were just friends until Denis finally plucked up the courage to ask Zoe out for a movie date. Our first movie was a Japanese horror movie and Zoe spent almost half of the movie with her eyes closed. We never did any horror movies from then on.” ~Denis and Zoe
How did Denis propose?
“We decided to do a photoshoot while we were in Paris as a keepsake before Zoe moved to Melbourne for a year for work.
While preparing for my individual shot, Denis was actually working on the proposal opportunity with our awesome photographer, Fran. The moment Fran mentioned, "Now for the million-dollar shot", Denis knelt down on one knee (and fumbled in his pocket for a few seconds), took out a box and asked, "Will you marry me?"
Of course Zoe said yes.

What was the theme/style/colour palette of your wedding?
“The colour palette was pink, white and gold. As the setting was in the garden, we wanted a garden theme with floral arches and high standing aisle flowers. The tiffany chairs were gold, table linens white, and flowers in shades of pink. The photo display table was filled with gold photo frames, a gold geometric glass box, pink roses and fairy lights. We also lined the stairways with rose vines.” ~Denis and Zoe
How did you decorate your venue?
“The main decorations were done by our florist. We did our own photo display table, with gold frames from IKEA and the main bulk of the ornaments used were purchased from Taobao. One DIY project Zoe did was the bride and groom chair signs “Better Together” using wooden boards and acrylic paint.” ~Denis and Zoe
What sort of wedding favours you opt for and why?
“We got our wedding favours from MINDS Social Enterprise – we felt that their “Happiness in a Jar” was a very quaint and thoughtful gift for our guests. We felt that food was the most practical wedding favour for Singaporeans and getting it from MINDS made it extra meaningful for us. Incidentally, they allowed customised tags which was a sweet gesture.” ~Denis and Zoe
Any tips or wedding advice for other brides and grooms-to-be?
“It is always important to have a timeline of events leading up to the big day and a tracker to make sure that you have things done on time. It is also good to get low-hanging fruit out of the way as there will be many unplanned things popping up nearer to the big day. While it was not easy juggling work, parents’ expectations and differences with your partner, better communication helps. Communicating well with your partner is always useful for aligning expectations (in terms of budget, the wedding traditions etc.) so that both of you can work as a team and reduce unnecessary conflicts.” ~Denis and Zoe
Congratulations on your marriage, Denis and Zoe! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
