Douglas and Charmaine's One-Of-A-Kind Wedding at Flower Field Hall

01pNEW

With help from wedding planner Rubina of Inside the Knot, videographer Douglas and his bride Charmaine threw a rustic celebration full of personality and pizzazz at Flower Field Hall against a lively backdrop of rainbow-hued mood lighting. Guests knew they were in for a good time when they encountered the duo’s cheeky pre-wedding photos before entering the Hall, also captured by their wedding photographer Raymond Phang.

And their proposal, pre-wedding shoot and wedding day videos:

How did you meet?
“We met in church at a much younger age but were both dating other people. Things took a turn and we somehow ended up together.” ~ Douglas

What was the proposal like?
“I invited about 70 close friends to Blu Jazz and surprised her at the dinner venue.” ~ Douglas

What was your theme and colour palette?
“It was a mix of pink, red and whites hues. Our theme was elegant rustic.” ~ Douglas

Did you undertake any DIY projects?
“We got a friend to design and print our wedding invites, and after that we hand-wrapped every single one with burlap and sealed them with our own customised wax stamp. This took us a long time!” ~ Douglas

What sort of wedding favors did you opt for, and why?
“We wanted something a little more practical which all our guests could use after the wedding. We were quite sick of the common salt and pepper shakers and luggage name tags which people tend to throw away. So we opted for a wooden chinese fan, laced with the scent of cinnamon. This added to the wooden rustic theme which the wedding had and guests could an themselves if the airconditioning wasn’t cold enough.” ~ Douglas

Do you have any wedding advice for other brides and grooms-to-be?
“It’s important to save money, but it is also important not to be “penny wise and pound foolish”. Know what you want to achieve for the wedding and stick to it.” ~ Douglas

What was the inspiration behind your pre-wedding shoot?
“’Doug loves cars, Charmaine loves computer games. Doug eats a little and gets fat, Charmaine eats a lot and remains skinny.’

Our pre-wedding photos were a graphic manifestation of our inner selves.” ~ Douglas

What do you think makes a strong marriage?
“Compromise! Lots and lots of compromise!” ~ Douglas

Congratulations on your marriage, Douglas and Charmaine! May it be every bit as incredible as your wedding!
