Elegant Wedding Tea Ceremony Inspiration with Cheongsam-Inspired Dresses

With Chinese New Year right around the corner, what better time then to share our tasteful Chinese tea ceremony (敬茶) styled shoot at Royal China, Raffles Singapore? With 3 dreamy cheongsam or qipao-inspired wedding dresses from designer Cinobi, we and The Wedding Stylist wanted to shine a light on this meaningful tradition which allows the bride and groom to pay their respects to family members on both sides, and give the families an opportunity to welcome its new members.

In Jemanci's images and Simplemotion's video, we show how the tea ceremony can be a special and beautiful part of your wedding celebrations, that will be remembered just as vividly as your ceremony and reception. Be sure to read on to the end for more details, and all the vendors that made this shoot possible.

A word from Caroline of The Wedding Stylist…
“In this styled shoot, we played with a few details focusing on a mix of colonial and oriental inspiration. From the venues to the outfits, we wanted to show how you can bring out the best of both worlds, especially living in this unique mixed-heritage country of ours.

Dressing up Tea Ceremony Spaces
Tea ceremonies have been a Chinese tradition passed down by generations and have always played an important role in symbolising the acceptance of the bride or groom into their new families. It is an important part of the wedding but is often overlooked when it comes to creating a beautiful space for this event.

In this shoot, we thought it would be fun to show how you can make a change to a space just by using a backdrop.

We love the colour of Royal China’s baby blue interior and decided to use a complementing pink to create a circular arch for the backdrop. We also laid down white vases of pink flowers on the floor to create different height dimensions. The design is subtle and brings a modern twist to a tradition we keep dear to our hearts.

{It's always a privilege to share the work of wedding creatives with our community! Thank you to all the talented folks who participated in this styled shoot!}
