Juxtaposing the old world charm of Little India with Wanderlust Hotel’s industrial interiors, Ferdi and Michelle’s wedding shot by Bloc Memoire Photography shows us that personality (think eclectic DIY favours and bride in a short dress and blusher veil) is what makes for a celebration that is truly memorable.
How did you meet?
“Our story began with a chance meeting outside a small London pub called the Carlisle in September 2012. Ferdi had finished a day of making websites at his Soho office, and I was on my way to meet a friend for a wine and chinwag after wrapping up the second week at my new job at Oxford Circus.” ~ Michelle
How did he propose?
“Ferdi organised a surprise trip to Langkawi, where he proposed with a sign held up by our best (wo)man in front of the Carlisle pub in London where we met. The sign was shown via Skype, with a back-up version on an iPad, and I screamed yes of course I will marry him, before being whisked off to the balcony for a prearranged fireworks display. Best. Proposal. Ever.” ~ Michelle
What was your colour palette?
“Turquoise green, pale pink and charcoal.” ~ Ferdi and Michelle
How did you decorate your venue? Did you undertake any DIY projects?
“The venue was mainly decorated with beautiful flowers and a flower arch by our florist. We DIY-ed our wedding favours and a “photo booth” consisting of 2 polaroid cameras, heart-shaped notes, and a few ropes to peg them up on.” ~ Ferdi and Michelle
What sort of wedding favors did you opt for, and why?
“We DIY-ed ours because we wanted to have an eclectic mix of items that really represented us. We created some custom postcards (because a lot of our guests had flown in from overseas), and threw in stamps, temporary tattoos, candy, and a vintage-inspired key-shaped bottle opener.” ~ Ferdi and Michelle
Do you have any tips and wedding advice for other brides and grooms-to-be?
“Create a to-do list and keep it handy in a web-based location like Google Docs, so you can update it as inspiration strikes when you’re out and about. Don’t try and do everything all at once; spend a little bit of time each week to chip away at the list and you’ll be surprised at how much progress you’ll make!” ~ Ferdi and Michelle
What do you think makes a strong marriage?
“Frequent communication, always! And saying ‘I love you’ every day.” ~ Ferdi and Michelle
Congratulations on your marriage, Ferdi and Michelle! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
