The Wedding Scoop is delighted to bring you this vibrant and fresh wedding which seems to perfectly showcase this couple's inherent style and vivacious sense of fun!
Julia met George through her sister, Sara, who fronts the popular local band 53A. Julia hung out with the band sometimes and even though they started out as friends, there was always a certain chemistry between her and George, and they gravitated towards each other at social gatherings. George was the clown and Julia seemed to be the only person who enjoyed his jokes. After dating for less than 2 years, George proposed to Julia at Dolce Vita, one of her favourite restaurants. His proposal was made all the more special as he had secretly invited Julia's family and their closest friends to the bar downstairs to share in their celebration after dinner.
“It was very brave of him to assume I'd say 'yes'. George claims he had saved a draft SMS with the words 'ABORT, ABORT', ready to hit send to all downstairs in the worst case scenario.” ~ Julia
The couple wanted a wedding that mirrored their love for each other – easy, without any drama and fuss. They opted for a classic venue and selected their Vintage Glamour theme as they believed it would tie in beautifully with CHIJMES as their backdrop. The resulting colour palette was simple but striking - black, white and red.
The theme translated into other elements of the wedding as well, from the invitation design and rose floral arrangements to table settings. Personal touches were seen at each table and included tea candles in glass holders, old school snacks that Sara packed into vintage popcorn pouches, rose macaroons stored in red favour boxes with the Chinese character 'shuang xi' for wedding and an infographic that had humorous facts about the couple, which the bride helped to create.
Congratulations George and Julia!
