Billy and Zyn of Le Fairymeadow couldn't wait to have their little baby boy, and started planning a styled shoot to commemorate the occasion months in advance. Shot by Fiona of Smittenpixels Photography, the whimsical shoot was done in two parts, with two different and completely adorable themes involving camping and a caravan. The baby 'camp site' was awash with hues of blue; strewn ribbons created a lovely makeshift tent that housed little Mason's crib. For the evening shoot, the couple created a life-sized wooden caravan from scratch to pull off an all-American style road trip, with neon pink flamingoes and a too-cute-for-words baby clothesline!
A word from Fiona of Smittenpixels Photography…
"The shoot has been nothing short of fun; it was my first time doing a styled maternity shoot so it was a whole new experience for me. What made it different this time around is that the lovely mom and dad-to-be are the very people behind Le Fairymeadow, both of whom I've worked with a couple of times before. Months prior to the shoot, Zyn (the mom-to-be) had already started conceptualising and discussing her ideas with me. We even spent an entire day driving around Singapore to look for the perfect locations for the shoot.
We had split the shoot into two entirely different themes, and one of it was done in the woods. Zyn and Billy had the idea of creating a tent in the woods with a real baby cot beneath it, which they had customised for their baby boy. When we were recce-ing for the location, we were more than delighted to find this part of the woods which had fallen trees and dense foliage that made it seem like a bit of a camp site.
As for the second part of the shoot which was done in the evening, Zyn and Billy wanted an entirely different look from what we did earlier in the day. The idea of this setup was inspired from the other styled shoots with caravans that we have seen overseas. Since we couldn’t have a real caravan at the shoot, the couple decided to make a wooden caravan from scratch all by themselves. You can imagine the amount of hard work put into all the wood-cutting and painting! I was so amazed when I heard about the entire process. We chose a large stretch of field to carry out the shoot; we wanted the whole thing to be fun and laidback. The storyline would be something like... A couple having a road trip to nowhere decided to have pit stop and have a nice picnic to relax in the summer heat. The caravan theme is probably our favourite one of all!"
Congratulations on your little bundle of joy, Billy and Zyn!
