While Keith and Natalli exchanged their vows beneath a rustic wedding arch in The Arts House’s charmingly historic setting, their wedding banquet at Capella Singapore was a more elegant affair, with splashes of dark blue, maroon and gold accents, and a stunning teal and gold-coloured wedding cake on display.
Planned by The Wedding Stylist and captured by Chen Sands Photography and AndroidsinBoots, the celebration saw the bride pulling off a surprise performance for her beloved, and included meaningful touches like wedding favours from a local charity - MINDS Bakers. (If you’d like to find out more about how MINDS Bakers can be a meaningful part of your wedding, check out our styled shoot with them here!)
How did you meet?
“We met through mutual friends over dinner. She was sitting across the table while we were drowning in our friend's conversations, and she broke the awkwardness by commenting on how nice my skin was. Before I could think of something suave to say, she reached over and felt my face. That sure left an impression on me! After a few drinks, I mustered all my courage and asked for her number before the night ended, and the rest is history. I told our mutual friend that she was the one I was going to marry that very day. I must say, though, that it was hard asking her out on the first date. So we've come a long way!” ~ Keith
“I definitely asked for his permission before I touched his face! I was jealous of his complexion, and still am. It was simply an honest opinion, and look where it got us!” ~ Natalli
How did Keith propose?
“Like how spontaneous our first encounter was, it inspired all our dates and plans, including my proposal to her. There never really was an official proposal because I've been approaching the subject (without a ring of course), which all ended with ‘you're so funny’, or ‘no, maybe in five years you can ask me again’. But deep down I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. Being the practical man that I am, I thought to myself, ‘why not now!’” ~ Keith
“If I had to pick the official moment, it would be at the Marina Barrage, where he got down on his knees in front of our furkids and friends. They helped us capture the moment, which pretty much made it official.” ~ Natalli
What was the theme/style/colour palette of your solemnisation and wedding?
“Our style was in between rustic and elegant. We didn't want something grand, formal or too extravagant because that was not reflective of our characters. We also didn’t identify with the very hipster rustic style of décor, with wild flowers popping out everywhere. We would describe it as a balance between the two.” ~ Keith and Natalli
What were some unique or personal touches?
“Keith bought me a diamond without a setting with the thought of designing the ring together. I loved that he knew I enjoyed being a part of every creative process, including our ring designs. We had Sara from An Order of Bling to custom-make my ring, and it was never a dull moment with Sara because I love her style and eye for detail. Plus, she's so fun to work with! She created lovely designs that I love, including a horoscope ring which I hope will materialise soon!
We also tried to incorporate things we like into our wedding, such as pineapples in Keith's & his groomsmen's boutonnieres to highlight his quirky character. Being a florist, I also felt the need to have some of my flowers made myself, so my bridal bouquet, bridesmaids’ posies and boutonnieres were made by me, and my elves!
Another thing that we are so proud of is our choice of food. Both venues that we engaged catered amazing food that our guests could not stop talking about! Our lunch was catered by Creative Eateries, where we opted for a fusion of Japanese, Chinese and Western cuisines to cater to all tastebuds. What stole the show were our chicken rice, laksa and kueh pie tee stations. We both personally found time to have a bite of our food too because they were so yummy! Dining at the Capella was also, needless to say, perfect. The food was of excellent quality and portions.” ~ Natalli
What sort of wedding favours did you opt for and why?
“We ordered bags of cookies from MINDS Bakers because we wanted our wedding favours to be purposeful. These cookies are baked with love by children or young adults who have intellectual disabilities, and we felt that it would be impactful to share their end product with everyone.” ~ Keith and Natalli
Were there any other special moments at your wedding?
“Natalli surprised me by singing one of our favorite songs, “Everytime We Touch” by Cascada, for our second march-in. I didn’t even know she had the microphone in her hand! I was wondering why the male singer that we hired was singing with a feminine voice – until I turned around to see her singing. I’ve been begging her to sing for me on a daily basis, but I didn’t expect it to be during our march-in!” ~ Keith
Any tips or advice on what makes a strong marriage?
“Communication is the most important! Be transparent (no matter how tough it is) and open to sharing your feelings so as to understand your partner better. Always remember that he/she comes with good intentions, which makes it easy to come to a compromise.” ~ Keith and Natalli
Congratulations on your marriage, Keith and Natalli! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
