When we caught a glimpse of Kenny and Grace's engagement shoot, the one thing that didn't enter our minds was DIY. We were astounded to find that practically everything used in this home shoot – down to the bouquet, wooden crates, stationery and those giant paper flowers – were arranged, built and handmade by this crafty couple. All these lovely details were beautifully captured by Hellojanelee Photography. Just wait until you see their wedding!
A word from Grace...
“These were all shot at our house and we couldn't have been happier because it was hazy and scorching outside in March! Most importantly, we didn't want to spend too much money on our pre-wedding shoot. We decorated our place with our own flowers and I made my own bouquet and Kenny's boutonniere – we had to do a practice round the week before because I wasn't sure how to do the flower arrangements.
We reused most of the wooden boxes that Kenny built for the wedding, and just turned them to face the other way to make them look a little different. The biggest wooden crate that we used in the photo shoot was actually the same one that we used for the 'Find Your Seat' display at our wedding. I even designed all the posters and framed them in cheap frames I got from Daiso.
The giant paper flowers were handmade by us as well – these were probably the only things I didn't reuse at our wedding because they didn't really suit the theme. The one thing that we didn't make was the cake that I ordered from Batter.Batter – I fell in love with their personalised cake toppers and intended to reuse ours on our wedding day (yay savings!). I would have baked my own cake otherwise. The other vendor that I did pay for is my makeup artist Rynee Tan, and even then I used my trial session with her for the shoot, and just paid a little extra for her to stay a bit longer.
P.S. Only Kenny actually does fencing – he competes as well. I, on the other hand, am a couch potato. (laughs)”
