The colour palette in Michael and Emily's wedding reminds us of Chinese blue and white porcelain. We love the elegance of the two colours together and the feeling of delightful delicacy it brings to their celebration. Another beautiful Singapore wedding, proudly brought to you by The Wedding Scoop!
Michael and Emily met seven years ago at Saint Ignatius Church. As serendipity would have it, the pair got to talking after Emily’s friend did not turn up for church camp and they ended up becoming the closest of friends. After being just that for several months, Michael asked her out over ice cream at Island Creamery.
For six years, they were what Emily described as “dating best friends”. Michael then slyly approached Emily’s parents for her hand in marriage and consulted her mother on her ring preferences before popping the question over dinner! Emily recounts that the proposal was a quiet but heartfelt surprise.
“I don’t remember what we were talking about over dinner at the time, but suddenly there the ring was! I only remember nodding through happy tears.”
From the get-go, both Michael and Emily knew that they wanted to opt for a warm intimate dinner party with wine, good food and great music over a traditional hotel Chinese wedding dinner. After looking through several options, the couple settled on the Tanglin Club’s Churchill Room to accommodate their 150 guests.
Printable Press, which handled their wedding stationary and paper, inspired Michael and Emily’s entire wedding color palette with their navy floral motif, which was even infused into the couple’s wedding cake!
When it came to the church wedding, the couple decided to have different white booms for each pew instead of a standardized combination blanketing all of them. Emily remembers that she was especially thrilled about her favourite detail suggested by their planner - the lush wedding wreaths for the gold Tiffany chairs at both the church and dinner reception.
The couple independently sourced for most of their finer details online - a customized porcelain ring bowl from Paloma’s Nest, navy paper flower dinner napkin ties from BHLDN and wooden spoons, stickers, twine and church reception signs from Etsy. Their maid-of-honour, pageboy and flowergirl were even outfitted from J.Crew and Monsoon.
“We saved loads, and it was such a thrill having little bits of the wedding arrive in the mail as the wedding date drew nearer!”
Congratulations Michael and Emily!
