Monochromatic Love: A Modern, Edgy Styled Shoot

23

The coolest couple on the block needs no introduction. They captured our hearts with their search for the elusive unicorn, and wowed us with their derby chic wedding; it is little wonder, then, that the talented folks of Bloc Memoire Photography approached Ping and Fannie for this one-of-a-kind modern, edgy, urban-inspired shoot styled by Eunice of Heaven in a Wild Flower and featuring two of the cutest frenchies around (not to mention Ping's own Land Rover Defender!) There are so many things to love about this refreshing take on a couple shoot, but we must say that the oh-so-chic bridal jumpsuit designed by Caramel & Co is a stand-out, complemented by hair and make-up by Pearlyn Law. We're willing to bet that we'll be seeing a lot more tattoo jewellery like Fannie's in the near future! Be sure to read on after the jump for the full set of photos, and an awesome video from Twenty8picks.

A word from Guan Hui of Bloc Memoire Photography...
"The idea for this Monochromatic Love styled shoot came from wanting to try something different – that is, away from typical wedding ideas that are usually based on rustic or dreamy themes."

A word from Eunice of Heaven in a Wild Flower...
“We wanted to create something modern, edgy, urban and fun but definitely still stylish and inspiring for couples who are looking for something different.

We decided to keep the styling simple, with geometric motifs and clean lines, and a monochromatic palette with pops of colour in the accessories and flowers. I used paper and ribbons to create a stylistically undone-looking backdrop for one set, and also designed a large piece of string art with the words “I DO” for another. Both these ideas are easily implementable for ceremony or photobooth backdrops! I used a lot of round, quirky flowers and foliage to create a contemporary bouquet, accentuated by the mod-inspired black-and-white striped ribbon. We also had two lovely frenchies, Iggy & Duke, guest-star in our shoot, which lent a fun twist as well. Mel made cute matching bow-ties for them too, and we found little top hats for them though it was quite a feat to get them on and stay on!”

A word from Mel of Caramel & Co...
"I had grown pretty tired of the rustic style and my inner fashionista was prompting me to create something more urban and edgy. I am quite a feminist at heart and my inspiration for the sequin embellished jumpsuit "gown" and matching jacket was based on my vision of a confident modern woman – one who is strong, not dependent on any man yet capable of falling in love."

A word from Pearlyn Law...
“Fun, edgy, yet clean was the whole idea behind the theme. Makeup and hair was kept simple yet defined enough to match the glamorous jumpsuit-gown. For a stronger contrast, Fanny’s lips were painted bold red to enhance the overall look while her tousled waves were braided at the sides to bring out her fun and edgy side.”

{We'd just like to say a huge "Thank you!" to all the wedding vendors who collaborated in this shoot! It's a pleasure to be able to share your wonderful creativity with our community!}
