Mun Chung and Emily's wedding took place only a day after their pre-wedding shoot in Cameron Highland's idyllic tea plantations. Held at The Smokehouse Hotel & Restaurant and captured by Daren Chong Photography, their celebration complemented venue's colonial architecture with simple DIY floral arrangements and guests decked out in lounge suits and their finest fascinators.
What was the theme of your wedding?
"We both love colonial architecture. We chose to have our wedding at The Smokehouse Hotel & Restaurant in Cameron Highlands and asked our guests to come in their lounge suits, with the ladies in fascinators." ~ Emily
How did you decorate your venues? Did you undertake any DIY projects?
"I was a wedding planner myself and I love doing DIY projects. I came up with ideas for the flower arrangements, signage and place cards, and made them with the help of my mum – she really helped me a lot with all the DIY. We picked flowers I liked and put them together two days before the wedding. Even my bouquet was made by my mum – I love it to bits." ~ Emily
Tell us about how you came to choose Singapore-based designer Vaughn Tan to design your dresses.
"Vaughn is a friend of mine. I love his designs, and he was the one who sponsored my outfit when I went to Hong Kong for a competition. He is a very talented and humble Malaysian designer who I respect and look up to." ~ Emily
What sort of wedding favors did you opt for, and why?
"We gave them jars of tea leaves to tie in with our wedding venue. We thought that it also matched our colonial-inspired theme." ~ Emily
What are some of your favourite memories from your big day?
"Our wedding was a small and cozy affair with only our immediate family members and a few of our closest friends present. Everybody felt home, and danced to the night away. Some of our most unforgettable moments include our vow exchange and first dance. We danced to our favourite song, 'The Moon Represents Our Heart', the song he used to propose to me – but with the right singer this time! (laughs) We cried as we danced; we felt so blessed to hear all our loved ones sing the song together. Oh, not to forget the march-in song – Mun Chung came in to the tune of 'Wrecking Ball'! Also, the food was awesome. Two thumbs up!" ~ Emily
Any tips or wedding advice for other brides and grooms-to-be?
"Plan way ahead and work as a team." ~ Emily
What do you think makes a strong marriage?
"Always give each other space, and be sure to respect and listen to each other. Last but not least, 'Happy wife, happy life'! Husbands, don't make fun of your wife's decisions, because you're one of them." ~ Emily
Congratulations on your marriage, Mun Chung and Emily! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
