The sea brought Nico and Olive together when they met on a diving trip in Malaysia. They have since gone to explore some of the world's top diving destinations together, and it's only natural that they would draw on their underwater adventures for their wedding at North Border Bar & Grill. Shot by Bloc Memoire Photography, their nuptials were decorated with sea shells, corals, scuba gear, and the cutest scuba-themed photo booth props we've seen to date.

How did you meet?
“We met on a scuba diving trip in Malaysia. I was just a beginner diver and Nico was advanced. He's actually a rescue diver, and a really good one. I admired him underwater and discovered that he was also a good guy on land.” ~ Olive
How did he propose?
“Nico asked me to pack a weekend bag and told me that he had a surprise for me over the weekend. I had no idea where we were going until we were in front of the Jetstar counter at the airport… It was a trip to Phuket! He packed the whole day with a lot of activities, including biking and snorkeling. In the evening, overlooking the sea in our hotel balcony, he popped the question. It was very intimate and romantic.” ~ Olive
What was the theme of your wedding?
“After a few months into the relationship, Nico had to go back to Switzerland because he was just here in Singapore on secondment. We spent one year in a long distance relationship. Since we are both avid scuba divers, we met each other every 2 or 3 months at the most beautiful dive destinations in South East Asia, like Bali, Wakatobi, Bohol and Sipadan.
Because we wanted our wedding to reflect our personalities, we chose a scuba diving theme, with happy touches of color. There were hints of the sea in all our décor, from the entrance to the cake and the photobooth props.
We engaged Inside The Knot to help us with the decor and we were so happy that they were able to pull off exactly what we wanted.” ~ Olive
What sort of wedding favors did you opt for, and why?
“I made personalized place cards for all the guests that they were able to take home as a souvenir. I used small chalkboards on wooden pegs and drew their names alongside an underwater-themed design.” ~ Olive
Do you have any wedding planning tips for other brides and grooms to-be?
“Spend on what really matters and the things that would make the wedding fun – not just for the bride and groom, but also for the guests. Invest time in personal touches to make the wedding celebration a unique representation of your personalities.” ~ Olive
Congratulations on your marriage, Nico and Olive! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
