Perfect Pairings: A Styled Shoot With Vera Wang Gowns

Today’s photos shot on ethereal film by Angga Permana at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa are a lovely lesson in how to style your wedding look by thoughtfully pairing gowns with hair and makeup, bridal accessories and floral arrangements.

Caroline of The Wedding Stylist selected three diaphanous dresses from Vera Wang Singapore (our favourite being Sigourney - an opulent ball gown in frothy layers of tulle) for model Serena of Mint Singapore and paired each one with hair and makeup by Bobbie of The Make Up Room using Clé de Peau Beauté, fine jewellery from The Canary Diamond Co., fashion jewellery from Carrie K., and florals by CCLee Design.

Elegant in “Nigella”
Caroline: Serena’s own choice of dress had wonderful detailed beading and diamantes which we paired with a diamond jewellery set from Canary Diamonds to bring out the elegance of the look. Our hair and makeup artist, Bobbie, used very neutral colours on Serena’s face and her hair was let down with soft waves to keep the look sleek. With such delicate details on the dress, we wanted to keep everything else simple so the full look wasn’t overwhelming and instead, show the beauty of the dress and the person wearing it. We paired this look with an overflowing bouquet in muted colours.

Playful in “Jocelyn”
Caroline: We love this look! It shows someone full of confidence and life. We played with brighter colours for Serena’s makeup and filled her hair with flowers. Jewellery was from Carrie K’s infinity collection. It was easy to create this look for Serena – her bubbly personality and radiance just shone through. We styled this look with a gold loop chair and attached flowers to it.

Opulent in “Sigourney”
Caroline: This dress took our breaths away! It was obvious from the start that we needed to have pearls with this look. The dress was stunning with its 3-meter long train and Bobbie kept Serena’s hair in an updo making sure the delicate lace details on the neckline were not missed. Makeup was stronger to compliment the feel and of course, we could not resist showing this dress off in a ceremony setting by the pool!

A word from our model, Serena…
"I love how the use of tulle and exquisite beading accentuates the classic silhouettes of the Spring 2017 collection and makes the collection that much more romantic. I fell in love with the ethereal quality of the gowns, such as the Nigella and the Sigourney which feature some sheer details, adding just the right touch of sexy.

For the feminine bride, the Nigella would make the perfect gown. The Nigella was designed to be figure hugging, accentuating every curve and celebrating the feminine form with the lovely beading and lace adding a touch of glamour. The limited edition Jocelyn is gorgeous because of its understated beauty and elegance. While the silhouette is simple, the low décolletage and low back brings out a quiet sexiness in the bride and exudes a sort of old Hollywood glamour. The Sigourney is really a statement gown for the bride who loves to make an entrance and is the life of the party. The dramatic tulle and lace overlay two-tiered ballgown is as opulent as it gets. The long train is definitely a showstopper. It’s every girl’s “princess” dream come true."
