Oh, but memories this shoot brings to mind! Our inaugural destination styled shoot was held at Wendy’s Secret Garden in Lavender Bay, Sydney, where flashes of gunmetal bridge and crystal blue skies pierce the cool embrace of the garden’s lush greenery. A word from Chen of Chen Sands Photography…
“Wendy's Secret Garden was literally built out of love. Once just a patch of land used as an unofficial dumping ground at the back of Wendy’s home, Wendy transformed it into a beautiful sanctuary for locals after her husband (the famous painter Brett Whitely) died.

The most amazing thing is that for over twenty years, she's paid for the entire thing herself. Her own labour, full-time gardeners, all the plants, the soil, everything.

On learning about this beautiful story and the spirit of Wendy, I wanted to bring both the ideas of a love of nature and wishes for loved ones to the shoot. Walking barefoot and 'tending' to the garden, our bride-to-be portraits are to inspire those moments of quiet that all brides should take, to stop and take it all in, as the wedding day is often such a whirlwind of activity. To think about loved ones, including those who cannot be there, and to enjoy time to herself as she starts a whole new chapter of her life.”

A word from Sandra of Simply Peachy…
“Nestled just inside the Sydney harbour, Wendy’s Secret Garden is so beautifully preserved and curated that you’ll find yourself surrounded by beautiful blooms and lush greenery all year round. It is full to the brim with beautiful and quintessential Australian charm and the perfect setting for a shoot with the creative team that flew all the way over from Singapore!

Inspired by the stillness of the gardens and dreams of sun-kissed days, we imagined a bride’s personal and private moment in the garden that is as strikingly simple in its beauty as it is cheerful and welcoming of the new life that awaits her. It was for this very reason that we kept the shoot simple and uncluttered to avoid taking the attention away from those beautiful moments, as well as the stunning backdrop of the gardens. Instead, we shone the spotlight on beautiful native floral arrangements created by Lime Tree Bower, the stunning gowns by Erin Clare supplied to us by Savvy Brides and the intricate veil and accessories by Percy Handmade. Nothing more, nothing less - it was the perfect celebration of the bride as she embarks on her next chapter.”
