Jason and Kim took rustic and made it wonderfully luxe by imbuing their celebration with lush white and blush florals, touches of gold, exposed hanging light bulbs and the dreamiest wishing tree, all in the green surrounds of Enderong Resort, Janda Baik, Pahang, Malaysia. Personal touches were added everywhere in the celebration from the vintage bicycle which spoke of their teenage days of courting, coconut ice-cream served between the ceremony and reception and cake baked by one of the bridesmaids. Just the loveliest of nuptials captured by the skilful Jonathan Ong!
A word from Kim…
“I’ve always wanted a romantic, rustic wedding but Jason had always dreamt of the perfect beach wedding. However, it didn’t take long to convince him to have a romantic rustic-themed celebration when he saw our wedding venue. We both live in Melbourne, Australia but because most of our family and friends are back home, we decided to have it in Malaysia and flew in our overseas crowd instead. Just a 40 minute drive away from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur city, you will find this beautiful sanctuary. The natural beauty of our venue, Tanarimba in Pahang, inspired us. The tall timber pillars, glass doors, high ceiling and its green surroundings was the perfect setting for us.
We wanted to bring out the beauty of the venue by complimenting and decorating it with lots and lots of hanging light bulbs and fresh white flowers with a hint of blush here and there. We wanted a romantic yet casual look and our amazing planner from Tie The Knot did a fantastic job at executing it. It looked better than the inspirations on my Pinterest board.
We had another traditional/cultural wedding before that and there were so many customary things to do, we almost forgot to enjoy ourselves. So for this wedding, we made sure that it would be a casual one and most importantly, that both of us should enjoy every single bit of the celebration. And that it was, a day where we celebrated our love with our closest and dearest and we got to enjoy every bit of it.
We included special details that have meaning to our relationship. A vintage bicycle was included as part of the décor because Jason used to ride his bicycle to my house when we were teenagers just to drop gifts for me without even seeing me. It was almost an hour’s journey on a bicycle. We also had authentic coconut ice cream served at our wedding during the interval between the wedding ceremony and the reception. Jason and I both love coconut ice cream and we go hunting high and low just for it. That was a real winner with the crowd. Even the wedding cake was made by one of my talented bridesmaids. We also got our best friends and siblings to perform and present their speeches. We flew in our emcee, who is also one of our closest friends, and our pastor from our local church in Melbourne from Australia to take part in our wedding. Everything was so personal; we felt that it couldn’t be any more perfect for us.
After lots of crying, laughing and dancing, the night finally came to an end. Even though everyone was sweating from the humidity and dancing, we are so glad for those who made it and had a great time with us.
Our advice to other couples planning their wedding is to really take your time and be sure to include each other in decision making. It means so much more when both the bride and groom are involved in the details of the wedding. I loved having Jason’s opinion when we were planning our big day. It will also help you learn things about each other that you didn't already know. Just like a marriage, you can’t have just one person making the decisions all the time; it’s teamwork that makes a marriage work. Remember that in the end, what matters most is the marriage, not the wedding.
We would like to thank all of our family, friends and vendors who have helped us make our dream wedding come true. Their support and guidance meant a lot to us in planning this awesome day. Photography for our wedding was a top priority for us as it really is the only thing that will let you relive those amazing moments again. We are so glad our photographer, Jonathan Ong, flew in from Melbourne to capture our magical moments together. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with.”
Congratulations on our marriage, Jason and Kim! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
