Sparks flew between Vicknesh and Silvia when they met through a mutual friend. After he popped the big question with one happy surprise after another, the cross-cultural Singaporean-Italian couple set their hearts on an outdoor garden wedding bash in Pantone Color of the Year 2019 Living Coral at MoCA Cafe @ Loewen.
Planned by Singapore-based Chere Weddings & Events and captured by award-winning Italian photographer Rosita Lipari, the solemnisation took place outdoors while the reception was held under a tent constructed specially for the occasion. The radiant bride donned a figure-hugging lace gown for the ceremony, and swopped it out for a party-ready frock for the after-party later. In all, it was a night filled with laughter, dancing and heartfelt speeches.
How did Vicknesh propose?
“He told me he had to wake up early to work. He is a workaholic so I didn’t suspect anything. He went to our neighbour’s house to cook me breakfast, came back home, woke me up and started saying sweet stuff to me. I am not a morning person so I was like, “Sure, I know you love me but can you tell me all this later?”
He went on for a bit longer and went down on one knee, then took out a ring. I thought he was joking and holding up one of my rings. It took me a while to realise what was really happening. When I put on my glasses, I noticed it was not one of my rings! There were rose petals all around the room and it trailed down to the living room where hundreds of roses welcomed me as well as a homemade breakfast.
That night, he took me out for dinner and organised a surprise engagement party with all of our friends and family. He got 10 stars that day! A day full of surprises and emotions!” ~ Silvia
What sort of wedding favours did you opt for and why?
“We always thought wedding gifts were a waste of money and no one really uses them. However, you can’t really go without them. So for our wedding we decided to get some handmade magmatic photo frames done by a social enterprise called The Looms Workshops. The profits contribute to the education and enablement of women in challenging situations. It’s a really cool way to have a socially conscious wedding by giving your guests a customized gift and at the same time spread that love to others.” ~ Silvia
Any tips or advice on what you think makes a strong marriage?
“Pick your battles, learn to compromise and “happy wife happy life!”” ~ Silvia
A word from Chere Weddings & Events:
“Silvia had a picture of soft drapes, hanging fairy lights, and ivory and coral-coloured flowers decorated elegantly for her wedding. So in order to do what she had in mind in Singapore, we had to build a tent on an empty land to create her vision.”
Congratulations on your marriage, Vicknesh and Silvia! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
