Wayne and Elizabeth's Dreamy Pastel-Hued Wedding at The White Rabbit

01

When we heard that Jen Huang (a name beloved by some of the best wedding blogs) photographed a celebration right here in Singapore we literally whooped and her fresh, clean, light-filled snaps of the lovely couple at The White Rabbit certainly don’t disappoint. With the help of planner Rosette Designs and Co, Elizabeth and Wayne’s nuptials are a rustic dream come true and made even more memorable with personal touches from the bride herself in the form of beautiful handwritten calligraphy.

How did you meet?
“Wayne and I met through mutual friends. I found him cute and witty, as he made remarks that were odd, perceptive and funny at the same time. I found out that he had recently moved to Singapore and had a job that required him to work US-based hours. Luckily for me, my schedule consisted mostly of night shifts at the hospital that I had dreaded up until then. We were soon sharing our stories nightly into the wee hours of the morning. By the time he surprised me by asking me out to a movie several months later, he knew my preferences and even favorite actors.” ~ Elizabeth

What was the proposal like?
“Wayne and I were engaged on the fourth night of our trip to the Maldives. He had planned an elaborate private beach dinner overlooking the sunset. Despite how obvious this may have appeared, I didn’t suspect anything. The fancy dinner came and went, and I didn’t notice much other than him being somewhat more fidgety than usual. Must have been the pre-snorkel caffeine drink, I thought. On the way back to the water villa, Wayne took my hand and insisted on taking a detour, having allegedly spotted “giant migrating manta rays.” We signed up for a manta ray hunt but we were never lucky enough to spot it, so I thought oh boy this must be my lucky day. Somewhat exhausted, I followed and headed towards a secluded beach area where an incredible wedding proposal formed by candles surrounded by tropical plants awaited me. Completely shocked, I turned and looked at Wayne, who had his left knee in the sand. He later told me he thought he had lost the ring during dinner thus the fidgety behaviour.” ~ Elizabeth

What was your theme of your wedding?
“We both wanted an intimate wedding and found The White Rabbit to be the perfect venue. The theme of the wedding was mostly rustic with pastel hues.” ~ Elizabeth

How did you decorate your venue? Did you undertake any DIY projects?
“The wonderful team from Rosette Designs and Co decorated the wedding venue. Hellen managed to execute what we envisioned and went ahead to source for vendors related to the styles we wanted. The only DIY project that I was determined to embark on was calligraphy writing. Our wedding had a total of 96 people and I wanted to make everyone feel as welcomed and special as possible, so I decided to have calligraphy name tags on coffee-stained papers and addresses of the wedding invitations handwritten.” ~ Elizabeth

What sort of wedding favors did you opt for, and why?
“Our wedding favour was a mini limoncello as it is a great digestive drink and the bottles were tiny enough to be placed on the table. Our Italian friend who was also our wine supplier managed to help us ship the bottles into Singapore.” ~ Elizabeth

Do you have any tips or wedding advice you'd like to share with other brides and grooms to-be?
“It is very important to plan your wedding at least 6-8 months in advance, or hire a wedding planner to ensure everything falls into place. From the making of the bridal dress, groom's suit, wedding invitations, shipment of the wedding favours…all these take time. There are plenty of small nitty-gritty details brides and grooms to-be are not aware of and it is always good to have someone to hold your hand and guide you through these aspects of planning.” ~ Elizabeth

What do you think makes a strong marriage?
“Frankly speaking, we think having the actual wedding done is like unlocking an achievement. The wedding planning process is ongoing and nerve-wrecking when both of us have differences in opinions and preferences but we got to learn about each other through this process as well.” ~ Elizabeth

Thank you for sharing, Wayne and Elizabeth, we wish you a marriage every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
