When a couple can make a ballroom wedding feel formal but not an ounce stuffy by infusing a classic white and gold palette with a fun march-in (complete with Iron Man helmet) and tennis trivia, you know you have a celebration that’s going to be ace! Read on for more of Jason and Chelsea’s nuptials planned by Spellbound Weddings and photographed by Alwin of Trouve at The St Regis Singapore.
Watch these short films of the couple's wedding day captured by The Wedding Paparazzi…
And this one about their love story…
How did you meet?
“We met 7 years ago at Singapore Management University's corridor and I halted in my tracks because this guy was wearing turquoise bermudas that were so sheer that I saw his bright pink undies underneath. He accused me of checking out his ass. True story as told in our pre-wedding video!” ~ Chelsea
What was the proposal like?
“It was random? Apparently I foiled my own proposal umpteen times while we were on a trip as I kept dozing off and refusing to hike or go for scenic walks. It was in Sardinia, an Italian island, on the day of our 5th year anniversary (5th year because I had told Jason that I must date a guy for 5 years before I will marry him.) The proposal was right on our anniversary – it was midnight Singapore time and 6pm Italian time when he proposed to me while I was showering to get ready for dinner.” ~ Chelsea
What was your theme and colour palette?
“White and gold, but not regal. We wanted a soft, garden feel.” ~ Chelsea
How did you decorate your venues? Did you undertake any DIY projects?
“I did my own poppers, visualised how the flowers should be, DIY-ed the tennis-themed reception – from the customised tennis balls to a mini simulated tennis court as the tables for guests to register and write their well wishes.” ~ Chelsea
What sort of wedding favors did you opt for, and why?
“Chocolates because I love chocolates and everyone loves chocolates.” ~ Chelsea
What are some of your favourite memories from the day?
“Everyone said it was fun! Entertainment value was top-notch! Great well thought-out witty speeches were made. Also, thanks to my very enthusiastic bridesmaids and groomsmen whom I hired a chereographer for! I liked listening to all the speeches made!” ~ Chelsea
Do you have any tips and wedding advice for other brides and grooms-to-be?
“Never try to cut costs on your wedding dress because it will be the focal point of all your wedding photos.” ~ Chelsea
What do you think makes a strong marriage?
“Compromise, understand and speak to your partner using his or her love language.” ~ Chelsea
Congratulations on your marriage, Jason and Chelsea! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
