Truth be told, we would have been disappointed if Darren and Jenny (of pre-wedding photo shoots with a casket and a sexy action romp in Japan fame) had a run-of-the-mill wedding. Not one to disappoint with themes however, their tasteful but still unique Game of Thrones harvest feast-inspired nuptials at Shangri-La Hotel, photographed by Lightedpixels Photography, are sure to please all of the noble houses of the Seven Kingdoms.
What was your theme and colour palette?
“The inspiration for the solemnisation was Game of Thrones’ medieval autumn harvest and feast. We love the drama series as a couple and wanted to create a setup that exuded the medieval ambience with lots of berry-coloured fruits, feathers, antique props and floral arrangements with a Marsala-coloured theme.
Our ballroom transitioned from autumn harvest feasting to the beginning of winter where the floral arrangements were primarily white, gold and black, fluffy with lots of fairy lights to bring sparkle to the entire ballroom. I really did feel like a princess walking down the aisle fully lined by baby’s breath, hydrangea, gold leaves and fairy lights. It was magnificent!” ~ Jenny
How did you decorate your venues?
“I'm so happy that my conceptualisation of the entire wedding could come to life. My own wedding floral company 'Flower Story' worked hard together with me months before the big day just to make sure that every single detail of the wedding was on point, according to the mood board that I'd prepared for them. Together with my on-site styling team Med Kärlek and their meticulous attention to detail, my dream wedding actually came to life. It was a unbelievable moment when I first made my entrance!” ~ Jenny
What sort of wedding favors did you opt for, and why?
“Rose tea and honey – we felt that they were practical wedding favours and wanted guests to be able to enjoy them when they brought them back.” ~ Jenny
Do you have any other stories you’d like to share with us?
“The highlight of the wedding was really when my group of bridesmaids and groomsmen went up to the stage with us to do a surprise 'Gangnam style' dance in front of a reception of about 800 guests. We know Gangnam is so 2012 but I felt it's the best way of expressing our personalities as a couple. It was an amazing experience even though we had only rehearsed together 3 times. We felt a lot of love from our brothers and sisters for doing this with us; it will definitely be a defining experience etched in our hearts.” ~ Jenny
Any tips or wedding advice for other brides and grooms to-be?
“Have a budget/concept in mind and stick with it, then hand it over to the professionals and let them work their magic.” ~ Jenny
What do you think makes a strong marriage?
“For us, working together presents us with some challenges in our relationship, thus we made a pact to abide by a few rules.
The first rule is never walk out on an argument, the second is to never sleep angry, and the third is to never just throw the 'break up' word when you're angry. Lastly, no matter how much we disagree on things at work, it never comes home with us. Whenever we can, we always set aside time to have our 'couple time'.” ~ Jenny
Congratulations on your marriage, Darren and Jenny! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
