Jeffrey and Daphne's Exquisite Wedding at Alkaff Mansion

FirstImage

Jeffrey and Daphne celebrated their nuptials with a two-part affair shot by Yu Hsin and KC of Tinydot Photography, planned by The Wedding Entourage, with flowers by Boenga. With its signature bespoke details and immaculate pastel pink and white palette, the couple's ceremony and lunch reception at the Alkaff Mansion Ristorante blew us away. We simply can't get enough of the bride's stunning gowns, and just look at that veil! Also, how amazing is her bridal party decked out in White by Vera Wang? If that wasn't enough, the couple capped the festivities the only way they know how: with the best food and wine at their dinner reception at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon. Talk about a night to remember!

Their love story:
Jeffrey and Daphne have a large number of common friends across Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and the USA, but had never met each other as they were never in the same country at the same time.

However, Jeffrey landed in Singapore by chance on his birthday in 2012. His trip to Paris to celebrate his birthday had been cancelled last minute, and he decided to fly to Singapore to celebrate with his best friend who organized a small gathering of their closest friends. Daphne happened to be there, and it was then that the two met for the first time.

Jeffrey was very taken by Daphne, but she was not looking to get into a relationship at the time. After being persuaded by her friends, however, she agreed to go out with Jeffrey and the two hit it off. One month after they met, Jeffrey sang Bruno Mars’ “Marry You” to Daphne in a karaoke room as he was sure that she was the one.

Daphne was initially quite unsure of their relationship. He worked in Kuala Lumpur and lived out of hotels both in Singapore and KL. To Daphne, his life seemed too transient and mobile, and she couldn’t see how it would work out.

Jeffrey took the initiative to move into a proper apartment in Singapore and flew back and forth daily from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore just to be with Daphne. Eventually, he took on another job that required him to fly less and allowed him to be permanently based in Singapore.

Although their characters are extremely different, they both love travelling, food and wine; they both also tend to avoid outdoor activities, so ultimately they found that they actually complemented each other well.

More than a year after first meeting, Jeffrey took Daphne on a surprise trip to Gili Lankanfushi Maldives. Knowing that Daphne is an avid animal lover, Jeffrey took her to watch wild dolphins and then to a private dinner on a small island big enough for only a palm tree and a dining table for two. He got down on one knee and proposed to her when they returned to their villa that night.

What was the theme of your wedding?
“We first celebrated our marriage at the Shangri-la Hotel on 20th July 2014. Both of my brothers got married there, so we wanted to carry on the tradition of celebrating our marriage with our families there.

For our ceremony on the 26th of July, we picked Alkaff Mansion as our venue as it was very different from other hotel venues and we both loved the idea of a garden gazebo wedding. The Alkaff Mansion has a rich history and it was a great opportunity for Jeffrey’s friends and family, who flew in from all over the world, to see another side of Singapore. The theme for our ceremony and lunch reception was “All Things Pretty”, with a colour palette of icy pink and white. We have two white ragdoll cats together, so cat motifs popped up here and there in our decorations and books.

Food and wine is an important part of our life together, so it was only natural for us to host a smaller dinner reception at Joël Robuchon. Even when we first started talking about our wedding, we both agreed that it was important to have an intimate gathering of family and friends to be able to enjoy the things that are truly important to us. I had the place in mind since early on in our relationship. With a classically elegant theme and monochromatic black and white colour scheme, our wedding essentially represented how we like to spend our weekends best: with great food, wine and the company of friends and family.” ~ Daphne

What are some of your personal highlights from the wedding?
“The speeches given by Jeff’s father and the bridal party were some of the most memorable. Jeff’s father sang a song to us and gave some wise advice on how to have a successful marriage. Secondly, all the bridesmaids gave a speech and one of them also sang a song for us; it was very sweet.

One of my personal favourite parts of the wedding was the incredibly pretty pink and white dessert table that my maid-of-honor, Linda Cai, prepared for the wedding. Linda personally folded pink and white windmills, tied pink and white ribbons on the candy jars and painstakingly labelled everything in cute little chalkboards on baby easels. Many of the candies featured on the dessert table were Jeff’s favourites while growing up, all shipped directly from the USA.” ~ Daphne

Tell us more about your big day. We want all the deets!
“Although the highlight of the day was the food and wine, I think the little details that we had spent a lot of time and thought on are what truly makes our wedding our own.

We first checked into the St Regis and also treated our bridal party and their partners by checking them into the hotel with us; we wanted them to feel as if they were on a mini ‘weddingcation’.

Jeffrey gave me a pair of bespoke velvet slippers with monograms that matched the ones on his. We wrote a book together about our love story, and gave them out as wedding favours together with a Hangover Kit that consisted of a bottle of Ukon Power, some chewing gum and Band-Aids in a custom-made velvet bag with our monogram on it. We also gave out my favourite scented Jo Malone candles.” ~ Daphne

Congratulations on your marriage, Jeffrey and Daphne! May it be every bit as beautiful as your wedding!
